I am of the mind that tattoos should be designed and placed in such a way that they accent your physical attributes, rather than in a location chosen solely for its relative pain receptivity, etc.
So: what are your best physical attributes and which one would look best with the shape and theme of your chosen tattoo highlighting it?

I’d say upper arm or upper back. But if you can swing it, I think neck tattoos are super sexy!

Its a preference on where you want to get a tattoo. Keep in mind to get it where you can cover it up. Say for instance, if your switching careers and needing to put on a shirt and tie on. You don’t want to spoil your chances in an interview with a trendy tattoo on your forearm or hand. I got my first tattoos on the back of my tricep, that way a t-shirt will cover most of it up. So I would say chest, middle back, shoulders, and upper arms are pretty common and safe for your first tattoo for a dude.

Depends on the design … and what sort of message you’re looking to display with this tattoo.
If you’re in a “white collar”-world, then someplace HIDDEN by a shirt & slacks would be your best bet. If your work environment (and all potential future work environments) aren’t the type to make any judgements based on body-art … then you’ve just got to consider the design & where such a design would best enhance the spot on your body that you want it.

I think forarm, chest, back or arm. I think a chest piece would be tight and a back piece on upper back.

My hubby got his first tat on his right shoulder blade. I have a lot of male friends that got their first directly in the center of their upper back though. I think those look good.
